To use an EMS neck massager for the first time, clean and lightly moisten the contact area, place both metal pads flat against the skin, turn on the device and begin at the lowest intensity. Increase it only until the pulsing feels clear and comfortable. It should never feel painful.
That simple sequence matters more than chasing a powerful sensation. MIRATOKI designed the VedaLoop Pendant Neck Relaxer with Heat in Japan around a light, hands-free format: approximately 2 oz, with five EMS modes, 16 intensity levels and three heat settings. The range is there to help you find a personal setting, not to make the highest number the goal.
What should you do before the first session?
Charge the device with the supplied USB-C cable and keep the user guide nearby. Choose a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and pay attention to how the stimulation feels.
Clean the contact area, then add a small amount of water or a water-based conductive gel. Avoid oils or heavy creams where the metal pads need to touch. Both pads should rest flat against the skin; incomplete contact can make the sensation faint or uneven.
This small preparation reflects MIRATOKI’s omotenashi philosophy: thoughtful care begins before the moment asks for it. A minute of setup can make the ritual feel simpler once you begin.
How should VedaLoop sit on the neck?
Let the open pendant-style frame rest naturally around the neck, with both metal contact pads lying flat. The flexible loop is designed to fit a range of adult neck shapes, but pad contact will vary from person to person.
Do not force the frame into an uncomfortable position. If one side feels different, turn the device down, switch it off if needed and reposition both pads before trying again.
Which intensity should a beginner choose?
Begin at intensity level 1. Raise the intensity gradually until you notice a comfortable tingling, pulsing or rhythmic tapping sensation.
More intensity is not necessarily better. VedaLoop offers 16 levels so the sensation can be adjusted in small steps. The right setting is the lowest level that feels clear and comfortable for you, without pain or irritation.
What does an EMS neck massager feel like?
At lower levels, VedaLoop may feel like a light tingle or pulse. At higher levels, the sensation may become more like rhythmic tapping. It does not knead with rotating heads and it does not work like a vibrating pillow.
If you feel almost nothing, check contact before increasing the intensity. Lightly moisten the skin again and make sure both metal pads are flat. If the sensation is sharp, painful or unpleasant, reduce the intensity or stop.

Should you add heat during the first session?
Heat is optional. VedaLoop has three heat settings and its current product page says warming begins in approximately three seconds. Starting with a gentle setting can make it easier to notice how heat and EMS feel separately.
Comfort should guide the choice. Stop the session if the warmth or stimulation feels unpleasant, and use only the settings described in the supplied guide.
How long should the first session last?
The current VedaLoop guidance describes a typical session as approximately 10–15 minutes. For the first use, keep your attention on comfort rather than the clock and follow the supplied user guide.
Stop immediately if you experience pain, dizziness, numbness, skin irritation or unusual discomfort. VedaLoop is intended for personal relaxation and general wellness; it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a medical condition.
Who should not use VedaLoop?
Do not use VedaLoop if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic medical device. The current product guidance says to consult a qualified healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, have epilepsy, a heart condition, reduced skin sensitivity, or have recently undergone neck or shoulder surgery.
These are product-safety boundaries, not a diagnosis. The FDA’s consumer information on electronic muscle stimulators also explains why electrical muscle stimulators are regulated devices and why unsupported body-changing claims should be treated carefully. This article makes no medical efficacy claim and does not state or imply that VedaLoop has FDA clearance.
How can the first session feel like self-care rather than setup?
Keep the ritual small. Put the phone face down, let the shoulders settle and choose one comfortable mode. VedaLoop’s pendant design keeps the hands free, but a first session is still a good time to pause rather than multitask.
When you already know the controls and sensations, the device can fit into a broader transition from work to rest. MIRATOKI’s neck-tension wind-down guide offers a gentle routine built around movement, warmth, breathing and quiet.
Why can’t I feel the EMS pulses?
First check that both metal pads have full contact with clean, lightly moistened skin. Add a small amount of water or water-based conductive gel, reposition the pads, then restart at a low intensity. Do not jump straight to a high setting to compensate for poor contact.
Does VedaLoop vibrate or knead?
No. VedaLoop has no rotating kneading heads. It uses adjustable low-frequency EMS pulses together with optional warming heat, so the sensation is different from a motorized neck pillow or percussion device.
Is stronger EMS always better?
No. The most suitable level is one that feels noticeable and comfortable without pain or irritation. Begin at level 1 and increase gradually; a higher number is not a measure of a better session.
